ALL KILLEARN ARCHIVE GROUP

© 2009 Killearn Community Futures Company

The aim of the group is to establish a collection of items that relates to the history of Killearn and the immediate area within the village. These items can consist of material objects, documents relating to Killearn, photographs, historic maps etc. and be in physical and/or digital formats. Since the formation of the group in January 2007 a substantial, and steadily increasing, amount of material has been collected either by donation to the Archive or research by members of the group.

As part of the refurbishment of the Village Hall in 2013 storage and display space was made available for some of the material held by the group. There are four display cabinets in the entrance area and two in the link from the café to the main hall. A computer on the lower floor allows access to more detailed information on some aspects of Killearn’s past and a bookcase holds general local history journals for consultation. Two large village needlework items have been framed and are displayed by the lower lift access with various other items displayed on the walls of the entrance area and lower floor. We are grateful to the Village Hall Committee for allowing storage of some physical artefacts in the Hall store but much remains in Group members’ houses which is not sustainable in the longer term.

If you have any material that you could donate to the archive, either in physical form or by allowing us to take copies, have any memories to share, would like to help with our work, or consult the archive, you can contact us by e-mail click here.
